A note from Alexandria Caldora, Choir Director at Park UMC:
I'd like to thank Park Church and everyone in the choir for their support. It would not be possible to have a choir without all of you.
I would also like to extend an invitation. Choir is more than just singing together. This year, we will be discussing the role of music in worship, the relationship between music and discipleship, and striving for perfection - together. If any of this interest you, come join us on Thursdays at 7PM. Talent is optional. Willingness to learn is not (but a pencil helps).
I'll see you in rehearsal.
Men's Prayer Breakfast
The Men's Prayer Breakfast is still going strong after many years! Thanks to all the men who cook, drive and plan a devotional talk about hope to the men staying at the Hope Center.
They will not be having their usual Valentines breakfast this year, but women are still welcome if they want to come. Especially, if they want to impress the men with their cooking skills! In all seriousness, they are always excited to get extra helpers in the kitchen and they will take people of all levels of cooking skills.
With VJ still recovering from back surgery, Gary Jackson has stepped in as a temporary driver.
Thanks to everyone who is helping to transport, feed and encourage these men! Please keep this ministry in your prayers.
5 Things/5 Weeks Study
We have been meeting in small groups since mid-January to discuss the sermon that we had heard on the previous Sunday, and to also go through a list of questions that Pastor Lynn has distributed to our group leaders. We have also been encouraged to daily read selected scriptures and spend some time journaling and praying. Another fun aspect of this study has been adding in a daily, random act of kindness and then journal about how it made us feel. At the end of the study, we are to share this experience with a person that we feel called to share with. We hope that everyone has received a blessing from this unique study!
Hearts Warm Hands
Thanks to Jocelyn Nichols for her ministry to the homeless in our community! We are currently collecting snacks, such as granola bars and rice crispy treats and warm socks, gloves, and scarves to hand out to our homeless friends.
Please put your items in the plastic container by the door to the sanctuary (in hallway). Also, all are welcome to join in the distribution of items! They are planning to hand out items again very soon. If you would like to contact Jocelyn, please send an email to her at email@example.com.
Thank you for making a difference in our neighborhood!!
Church Notes Received
Thank you for the flowers. We appreciate your warmth and kindness shown to us during our sadness. Sincerely, David Ryles, Mary Ellen Ryles and Melinda Ryles-Smith
Lenten Study and Ash Wednesday
Our Ash Wednesday service will begin at 7PM on February 14th. The following week, we plan to begin a Lenten study called "The Easter Experience". This is a six-week video series that will be in a setting of small groups, that promises to bring the passion and resurrection of Jesus to life in cinematic style. Expect spiritual growth and bonding within your small group community.
Congratulations to Chris and Holly Osborne (parents) and Jim and Mary Beth Philips (grandparents) For the birth of Miss Eva Grace Osborne on January 30th. She weighed 7lbs and 11oz and was 20 inches long. She was born with a full head of black, wavy hair! We are so excited that she and Holly are doing well!
